Big Bird the Bird needs a home
Yellow Crowned Amazons like Big Bird are magnificent, beautifully colored birds. But they can live up to 70 years, making it hard for them to stay in one family their whole life. That's one of the reasons it's better for parrots to live in the wild! But that's no longer an option for these Big Bird, so he needs a new home.This shy fellow has definitely bounced around a bit (born in 1979). We're not sure where he started, but he came to Best Friends from another rescue group not equipped to care for Big Bird.Big Bird is social and will easily stepping up onto your arm or a towel. He's also fun to watch playing with balls tossed onto the bottom of his cage. Like so many, you can win his heart through his stomach, with yummy nuts, fruits, or berries. But one thing that will hurt that trust is holding his feet. He really hates that for reasons we haven't figured out.Big Bird will need both an indoor cage and an outdoor enclosure, to ensure lots of mental stimulation and a good quality of life.It will take a sweet, gentle person willing to work to gain his trust. But it will be so worth it to finally see him settle into your home. What do you say?
